Craig Hickson | Managing Director
Craig has worked within the meat industry all of his professional life and is a stalwart of the industry. In 2012 he was awarded the Agribusiness Person of the Year for his outstanding contribution to the industry and recently been award EY NZ Entrepreneur of the Year. Craig works closely with the Progressive Meats Leadership Team and is also a Director of Te Kuiti Meat Processors, Ovation NZ Ltd, Lean Meats Ltd, Progressive Leathers Ltd, Pasture Petfoods, Venison Packers Feilding, Beef + Lamb NZ, Wools of New Zealand and Ovita NZ.
Jim Goodall | General Manager
Jim has extensive meat industry experience, including supply chain development of chilled lamb from producer group direct to US Retail, in market direct to retail business development in the USA & UK for Grass Fed Wagyu beef. Apart from a period living in Australia and Wales, UK, Jim has spent most of his life in Hawke’s Bay, being educated at Havelock North High School and starting in the Meat Industry at Weddel Tomoana. Jim is also Executive Director of Lean Meats Limited and US subsidiary Atkins Ranch and Director of Ovis Management Limited.
Chris Cardno | Site Manager
Chris joined Progressive Meats in December 2013 and previously held the position of Plant Manager at Te Kuiti Meat Processors Ltd. Chris has spent the last 15 years specialising in meat processing operations in the Hawke’s Bay and Waikato areas. In the position of Site Manager, Chris is responsible for all operations across our Hastings Site, focused on maximising productivity, yield recovery and profitability.
Colin Watson | Plant Engineer
Colin has been with Progressive Meats since 2005 ensuring that the Plant is maintained to a high standard, all processes run continuously, and capital projects for new or improvement processes are completed effectively. Prior to PML he worked in engineering management and process development roles for Heinz Watties and Unilever.
Gavin Beaver | Accountant
Gavin oversees the Financial and Commercial functions for Progressive Meats business activity, plus IT systems. He started with Progressive in early 2007, having previously worked both in New Zealand and abroad in various accounting roles.
James Riley | Technical Compliance Advisor
James has been with Progressive Meats since 2007 and has also been the Technical Manager for Te Kuiti Meat Processors since 2000. He is a qualified practice Veterinarian that then went on to work as a MAF Veterinarian for ten years. His role is to oversee all Plant compliance with New Zealand and Overseas market access food safety requirements.
Emma Rough | Hawke’s Bay Lamb Programme Manager
Emma has been with us since 2009 and has been in the role of HB Lamb Supply Manager since 2012. She is the one to speak to for all livestock booking enquiries for both PML and Te Kuiti Meats. Her role also encompasses lamb procurement and promoting the Progressive Meats brand. Having grown up on a sheep and beef property in Mahia, Emma has also worked for PGG Wrightson, shepherded and is currently studying Ag Commerce extramurally.
Deb McCurrach | Livestock Administrator
Deb has been with us for over 20 years – she is the key person behind our livestock payment system. She is responsible for collating all kill data including ASD Forms, advising kill results to our suppliers and agents and processing supplier payments. She works closely with the Livestock team ensuring all communications with our farmer suppliers are seamless. In her ‘previous life’ Deb worked as a Stock Clerk for Wrightson NMA Limited.
